How Acupuncture can help you

There are many ways that traditional acupuncture can help you. As well as providing relief from specific symptoms and conditions, another benefit of acupuncture treatment is one of relaxation and a sense of well being. People often find that their energy levels improve, and that they begin to sleep better. This is because the approach of Chinese medicine is to consider symptoms in the context of the person as a whole, and to address the energetic imbalances underlying their condition, as well as the manifesting symptoms.

Acupuncture can help with a wide range of symptoms which include:-

headaches
nausea and vomiting
hayfever and sinusitis
neck pain
back pain
arthritic pain
low energy
some skin conditions
menopausal symptoms such as hot sweats
symptoms of stress
anxiety and mild depression
IBS and other bowel disorders
Mens conditions
Insomnia
Withdrawal symptoms
Some drug side effects

and many more. Please contact Liz if you would like to ask about your own condition, or refer to The British Acupuncture Council website for further details about recent research.

Pregnant woman

Acupuncture is also used throughout pregnancy, such as for morning sickness, and increasingly for helping with problems of infertility or to support IVF treatment.

Acupuncture works well alongside most medical treatments and can be a compliment to them. Of course there are also times when other therapies might be suggested to compliment treatment, for example psychological therapies in the case of panic attacks or depression, or herbal medicine and nutritional advice when there is a marked nutritional deficiency.

Acupuncture can be used preventatively especially during stressful times of life. Life changes such as moving house, bereavement, getting divorced, and even getting married can present their own stresses and strains on our health and well being. A course of acupuncture can help to bring us back into balance.
